Janine is an award winning contemporary textile artist from Perth, with a passion for freehand machine embroidery. Drawing inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity of our world, she translate these experiences into intricate fabric and thread creations using a sewing machine.
Janine’s creative process begins with eco-dyed or sun-dyed backgrounds, onto which she collages fabric to outline the main design. The magic comes in the form of thread painting, where she employs freehand machine embroidery to add intricate details, breathing life into her creations.
Janine had a solo exhibition and her artwork is held in private collections in Europe, North America and Australia. Her quilts have been featured in several magazines and won awards both locally and nationally.
Ultimately, her art serves as a visual diary of travels, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of exploration and imagination. Through her creations, she hopes to inspire others to embrace the beauty of the world around them and embark on their own adventures, both near and far.
