Cathy Jack Coupland creates uniquely tactile, dimensional contemporary artworks bursting with excitement and vigour. Her recognizable style of lyrical and rhythmic design is based on passions involving the natural world as well as historical textiles resulting in remarkable machine embroidered textile and fibre art.
Colour is a recurring theme, used with a stimulating sense of daring, while free machine embroidery is the dominant technique used to create amazing dimension via the density of stitch. This produces a rippling surface full of movement, able to catch and reflect light.
From inspiration to stitch, Cathy’s dedication to process uses simple photography, drawing, colouring and stitching.
